Everyone is welcome - whether you're an existing RenCAN member wanting to find out how the Hub can support you, interested in joining the network, or would like some information about climate action and related projects in Renfrewshire.
Below you'll find the current key priorities of the Hub in 2026/7.
Renfrewshire Climate Action Network (RenCAN)
RenCAN Hub is the facilitation and support organisation for Renfrewshire Climate Action Network (RenCAN), a regional network of people and community-led organisations that take action on the climate crisis and related issues in ways that promote wellbeing and equity. A key aim of the Hub is to develop the network and facilitate collaboration around climate action and related issues between organisations and individuals across Renfrewshire.

Community Food
Increasing community-grown food is a powerful way to challenge climate change while empowering people. Our team is focused on strengthening local food systems in Renfrewshire and building connections needed to support it. We are committed to a vision of a more resilient and self-sufficient region, where communities are empowered to grow, share, and access sustainable, nutrient-rich food.
Through this initiative, we aim to bring together producers, growers, seed libraries, community groups and food distribution projects. By connecting these efforts, we can maximise impact -ensuring that locally grown food is readily available to all. Find out more.
Circular Economy
RenCAN Hub works with organisations such as ReMode, Sewing2gether All Nations, Gryffe Repair Cafe and Own Yer Bike to promote the intergenerational sharing of vital repair and mending skills across Renfrewshire. RenCAN Hub also runs a monthly Fix & Mend community repair initiative in Lochwinnoch and published Circular Renfrewshire, a directory for repair, remake and share projects and businesses.

RenCAN Learn
No matter your level of know-how around climate change, sustainability or the environment, we are here to help you progress your learning with our learning opportunities. RenCAN Hub has teamed up with Sustain the Change to set up RenCAN Learn.
Contact learn@renfrewshireclimate.scot and find out more.
Nature conservation and restoration
RenCAN Hub partners with Naturefix and local conservation charities such as Eadha and Clyde Muirshiel Regional Park to create opportunities for people to get outside and experience the physical and mental health benefits of the outdoors - connecting with nature and each other. In this way, we tackle the social justice issues facing Renfrewshire, as well as completing vital adaptation work in the face of the climate crisis. In short, planting trees up the hills prevents flooding lower down. We are bringing in the people of Renfrewshire to be part of the solution.
So far, we've worked with Star Project, Kairos Women+, Pachedu, and the Tannahill Centre to plant over 3500 trees.
Green List Project
The Renfrewshire Green List project is documenting climate actions across the region, from growing schemes to tool libraries and beyond. Open Aye and RenCan are running an ongoing participatory photo project, which connects with locals to explore and photograph a range of activities, which are based around the intersecting themes of conservation, the circular economy, and social justice. The Green List will eventually be a digital and printed directory, which includes photo case studies of projects that are successfully running or pioneering approaches to climate action, and will also include a comprehensive listing of other orgs, groups and people in Renfrewshire who are helping to tackle the nature and climate emergencies.
